Portillo’s is a fast-casual restaurant chain that many call the one-stop shop for iconic Chicago foods. It has a world-famous chocolate cake, an Italian beef sandwich, cheese fries, a chicken croissant, and a chopped salad. The most popular menu item is the restaurant’s Chicago-style hot dog, topped with mustard, relish, onions, sliced tomato, pickles, peppers, and celery salt. Insider's Herrine Ro visited the downtown Portillo’s location to learn about what goes into the hot dog and find out from customers why they think the Portillo’s hot dog is the most legendary in the city. Herrine ate some of the most popular dishes and invited her friends Alana Yzola and Kyle Desiderio to try out the dishes.

Originally from NW Indiana but now in Boise. Nothing here compares to the Portillo’s experience. The dogs are fabulous. When I go back to Chicago, I go to Portillo’s.

I go to the one in Buena Park, CA religiously. The best hotdog I've ever had. It's so tasty. Italian beef sandwiches are amazing as well. Might have to have it for dinner tonight.

I'm from Chicago born and raised. The hot dogs are the best, the fries are delicious and my favorite the Italian beef sandwich to die for. Now I live in Tampa, Florida so happy when they opened one chain here. I'm getting my groove on its taste the same as when I use to enjoy it back home. PORTILLO, S you need to open more chain food places here in Florida.

One of my father's chief complaints when he retired to Florida was that he couldn't fine any Italian beef sandwiches. He was ecstatic to learn that they are opening up a Portillio's in The Villages.
