i always considered that to be true because it just doesnt make any sense, if rogers haki was much stronger than whitebeard so that it may even counter wb's gura gura powers then why didnt roger push back whitebeard during their haki clash?, roger and whitebeard always had an even haki clash so it doesnt make any sense. also people usually say that "roger's haki clash was even with whitebeard because roger was ill", that also doesnt make any sense since he was using advanced conquerors haki against wb for "3" days, using advanced conquerors haki for 3 whole days while ur sick is impossible, it is a skill that is the manifestation of willpower and prolonged usage of it takes a toll on your body and roger was using it for 3 days, if he was really sick he shouldnt be able to do that.

Just because we saw a roger vs wb fight doesn't means it was a serious fight. I'm sure they fought a lot of times in a serious way. To me, the fight we saw was just a warm up "long time no see" fight where nobody was serious and they were smiling. They didn't go all out. I'm sure in the final arc we will see every fight like how roger and garp teamed up, how wb and roger fought each other ect. We may even see aokiji vs akainu

Well if we use Garp (old) big Haki move as a base power for roger considering they were rivals. We could assume that maybe Roger’s haki just completely outclasses whitebeard and they just never show it because 1 haki started destroying the land they stood in so imagine them going all out. Problem for whitebeard is his children around him, his devilfruit is to destructive to use it against roger. In marine war arc he was going with full power when ace got killed and the battlefield was already pretty much empty. I think we will see the true powers of roger / garp/ whitebeard in the god valley arc.

Everybody has an opinions, Oden flashback was just the last time Roger met Whitebeard before he was executed, it is clearly known that they fought many times, we don't know whether he used his df or not, if Oda said that both are rivals, that means Roger have some special abilities that can rival WB, so until Oda revealed to One Piece fans who is better, It is safe to say both can beat each other and can go either way, it's a tie.
