Thanks so much for covering Broken Roads, and the encouraging words! We're now officially part of Steam Next Fest as well, and hope your viewers enjoy trying out our demo!

Thanks again for checking out Cyber Knights: Flashpoint, and for putting a spotlight on all these awesome indies in Next Fest! People adding us to their wishlist on Steam helps so much!

I'm pretty excited about En garde both for the parodic swashbuckling setting (which reminds me of Princess bride) and the combat that relies on using the environment : push enemies over ledges, kick barrels to stun them or even throw buckets on their faces like they're a shopkeeper in skyrim

I'd also recommend people give a look at Islands of the Caliph, which is fashioned sort of as an old-school blobber (first person dungeon crawler) in an open world inspired by Arabian folklore, which is a setting that doesn't get explored anywhere near as often as Western-inspired stuff. A solo dev has been working on it for ages and there's a lot to like in what he's put out so far

One of my favorite this batch is a little game called fortune's run. It's basically a boomer shooter like doom or quake, but with a design philosophy of an immersive sim. Basically many ways to solve encounters using various tools and methods. The melee combat is some of the best first person melee combat i have ever played, so responsive and weighty, and fast paced. You can parkour too, so combine various methods of movement and combat. For example, jumping behind an enemy, use him as a shield, shoot his friends, then when he dies and you're close enough, finish the rest with your katana. You can get creative like using a crate to make a shield, or cutting a gas pipe, luring enemies into the stream then ignite it. Very stylish and fun.

I will add that Xenonauts 2 and Dark Envoy have demos out as well. Every Day We Fight has the ability to request access, And the game Forever Skies is out on the 22nd.

I was extremely impressed with the Viewfinder demo. It’s reasonably short, but some of the things it’s doing with puzzles and perspective are both conceptually clever and INCREDIBLY impressive from a technical point of view.

Broken Roads is definitely my number one pick, the demo sealed it for me. The Book Walker and Cyber Knights follow

Laika: Aged Through Blood and Luna Abyss are the biggest winners of this Next Fest for me so far. I’m really surprised at how much Luna Abyss impressed me, given that I am not normally an FPS guy, but the aesthetic pulled me in to what is shaping up to be a great game.

I also went ahead and downloaded the Broken Roads demo based on your coverage. I’m excited to try it.

The Shadow Gambit demo was so damn good. As always these devs knock it out of the park. Can't wait for release.

A ton of great games in Next Fest. Some of the big notables for me so far:
Shadow Gambit, En Garde!, Quest Master, Station to Station, Cross Blitz, Sea of Stars, Soulvars, Viewfinder, and Distant Bloom

Nothing stands out to me now, but I'm hoping that in a few weeks an indie darling will emerge. Onward to 200k. All glory to the algorithm.
