Tom Wright is a great gift to the church. The Resurrection of The Son of God is one of the most important apologetics works of the past century. As you say, he is always gracious and Christlike in the way that he approaches disagreements with others (something John Piper has said that he appreciates, despite their disagreements on justification). If only those who have never even read his work would extend him the same Christian consideration!

I have purchased this and await delivery and his new book on Romans 'Into the heart of Romans'. Not unlike your self I don't agree with everything NTW says but he is a thoughtful and thought provoking author.

Great review. Love N.T. Wright and his work. I will have to pick this version up when I can, it’s a definite improvement over the other bindings of the other editions. I appreciate scholars who take a fresh look at the scripture and its context and adjust their theology. For those unfamiliar with his work the New Testament for Everyone commentary series is a good place to start. Don’t let critics or your own closely held theology keep you away from learning and growing. Bible scholars spend their whole lives studying scripture and its ancient context and sharing what they have learned; they are a gift to the church. As a seminary graduate myself it must have been cool to attend his classes in person and then correspond with him.

Thanks Tim for the review. I am coming of a Sabbatical myself and have been reading Wright's Heaven on Earth whch is a series of excerpts from his books. The scripture references are from the Kingdom New Testament. Thank you again for sharing the info on the translation.

I bought this. One thing I particularly like is that it’s easy to keep track of who is saying what. That’s something I struggle with in any book.

I also got the audio version which he himself reads which is a real treat.

I am so glad I saw this video because I was going to attempt a rebind on my Kingdom translation, even though it's paperback. The New Testament for everyone will be a lot easier to work with lol

I've benefited so much from NT Wright's teaching and writing ministry. His Resurrection of the Son of God was hugely formational for me. Quick question though... what are your thoughts on translations done by a single translator? I've used the Kingdom Translation before and even the Message as study tools, but I don't think I could ever use a translation by one person as a primary text. Thoughts?

Whoa John 3:16 grabbed my attention. I’ve used NT WRIGHT books for serious Bible Studies. I think getting a copy would work for me.

I checked it out a little bit at my local Books-a-Million, and while it seemed a decent translation, his translation philosophy was all over the place. A lot was a clear, dynamic translation, but some stretches were downright paraphrastic

I have the first edition. I didn't realize that he was doing any updating. I'll have to dwell on this. I do like his commentary series which I have the Logos version of.

I prefer a good study bible with clarifying notes on the side with a literal translation rather than these being one with the actual text. Also, the well trusted translations are done by El teams of scholars and not one person. I’m sure this one is fine for the most part though!
