As a former Technical Manager for CommunITel, it's nice to see some of my software still in use :)
I think I still have some of the original source code somewhere.
I used a Model B for development work at home and a Filestore with Master Compact in the office.

Wow! It reminds me of my old computer class at secondary school!

This is seriously cool.

If I had the level of knowledge I have now as a kid I'd have been all over this - had I been given resources to do so.

We had BBC Model B's in infant/junior school then later A3000's but there was no Econet.

So nostalgic to see this, I'm old enough to remember my high school all networked like this.
Some how back in the day I saved to floppy disc the network menu software and still have it at home in my beeb it crosses my mind if its the last surviving copy from my high-school as the econet network and all the beebs were stripped out and replaced decades ago now.... and I assume the hard ware all eventually binned....what a shame.

Please do a closer up inspection / description of the network units and the connectors and syntax for making it work! What a fabulously rare network! Probably one of the first useful networks? I remember it from the 80's... 5 Pin DIN connectors? Those share boxes? I used to access it from the Archimedes or BBC Masters... Great memories. Oh my God, I just figured out you are a history museum place about 3 hours from me. I'll see you one day soon!!!! :) :) :)

I used to log onto Micronet with my Commodore 64 and acoustic coupler in the early 80's,
Good memories.

I remember My school had an Econet network installed it was great it meant we can back up our word-wise files on to network and many BBC micro programs were stored on there. it was fairly quick access in its i had to teach the special needs teachers how to use the system and wrote a book on how to use the BBC Master and various

I remember econet from when I was in school, and once a year we'd get to play games on the beebs over the econet. Whoop!
