Dauphin County man seeks a kidney this Christmas
Показать описание
A Dauphin County man has one wish this holiday season after spending nearly five years on an organ transplant list.
Doug Seaman, 62, spent the last four and a half years waiting for a kidney transplant. This Christmas he’s taking matters into his own hands, asking the community for help finding a live kidney donor.
According to the National Kidney Foundation, kidneys from live donors can last 8 to 10 years longer than kidneys transplanted from dead donors. Live donor kidneys can also be a better genetic match, which gives them a better chance of working right after transplantation.
In Seaman’s case, the live donation would help him get the organ faster than the waitlist.
