From Epiphone:

Honoring One of the Most Important Heavy Metal Guitars of All Time
Metallica fans worldwide are familiar with Kirk Hammett’s 1979 Flying V. It was Kirk’s first Gibson and established his passion for Gibson guitars. Its purchase was inspired by famous Flying V™ players Kirk admired and because he was looking for a fuller sound. And what a sound! Kirk still plays the original guitar to this day, and used it on all the early Metallica albums, including Kill ‘Em All, Ride the Lightning, Master of Puppets, …And Justice for All, and The Black Album, making it one of the most important heavy metal guitars of all time. Now, Epiphone is partnering with the Gibson Custom Shop to release the Epiphone Kirk Hammett 1979 Flying V, a meticulous recreation of Kirk’s prized original. It features a mahogany body, a one-piece mahogany neck with volute, Grover® Rotomatic® machine heads with “spade” buttons, and a custom bridge. The electronics are also top-notch, with a pair of Gibson USA Calibrated T-Type humbucker™ pickups wired to CTS® potentiometers and an Orange Drop® capacitor, and a Switchcraft® 3-way pickup selector toggle switch and a 1/4” output jack. A Kirk Hammett logo adorns the rear of the headstock, and a black hardshell case with a red plush interior is also included.

I bought the purple one and I love this guitar. This guitar uses the thicker body like the gibson 70, s reissue flying V. The fit and finish on mine is awesome .the neck is bigger than the original 74, I used to own. But I really enjoy playing this Epiphone version. It has a tight grained finger board. And it sounds great. If it had stainless steel frets. I would probably play this guitar all the time.

I got the first purple one that showed up a week early on Reverb. This guitar is well worth $1299! Pull the trigger!

I own a 1975 Gibson fly'n V natural , best feeling neck of any of my guitars, bought it brand new (1977) for $750.00 , oh yeah and the neck got cracked of course, but got it fixed and has always played great ..

I ordered an Ebony one because I like the classic look. I like the Purple Metallic too, but wanted the traditional colour.

I like the new format, explanation and then a demo video. I think the prices on these guitars is pretty good considering the artist and the total package, case ect.

I was really hoping they would release Greeny but i doubt they could mass produce a proper copy

Yeah, that metallic purple looks so sweet! Pretty tempting! I’ve always wanted a Flying V! 😊

Cool guitar too bad I already have a V. I’ve got the 2021 Zzounds exclusive Gibson V Tribute in Olive Drab, so I don’t need a second one. That purple is pretty killer though.

how is the neck, is it the same as the gibson? i was in a shop trying them both and the epiphone neck was quite chunky i didn't like it - i kind of want this one though

I'm sorry, when I see '70's era Flying V, I'm not thinking Kirk Hammet, I'm thinking MICHAEL SCHENKER 🤘

Kirk is actually using this guitar on their live shows

Cool guitar but too much $$$ for a Chinese guitar. That said, I'd come closer to buying this than that joke of a Bonamassa SG.
