S1 E27 Hauling out the new boat (Dominican Republic)

I untied from the mooring and with the help of my buddy boats (Bob on SV Nena II, and Lisa and Ellis on SV Booby Trap @boobytrapsailing3832), plus a few extra hands in the harbor, moved the boat to the yard. Isaac at Tropical and his crew did an AMAZING job getting the boat blocked on the trailer, up the ramp, and into the yard. From the very beginning I have nothing but respect for their business and facilities. They've treated me with utmost professionalism and care. Basically, I'd heard mixed reviews from the people in Luperon, but my own experience was wonderful. I would haul-out with them again.

Good job on getting your boat out. I'm loathe on giving boaters advice, and this is not about boating itself. Wear a hat, sweetie. You have such beautiful complexion I don't want you going through what I've been going through for the past 10 years. You know I did a lot of sailing in my younger years, without a hat. I'm paying for it now. Enough said. Ah yes, lots of scraping, repairs and bottom painting. Been there, done that. Time for a beer.

Dont ya just love how fellow sailors are always willing to lend a helping hand? Congrats on the haulout. Now you can rest easy and check her all over properly. Look forward to the next video.

You have made some great friends there Nicole, worth their weight in gold, must say your new boat looks good in the water, it’s broader in the beam than l had thought, great buy & will look great for a lick of paint, safe harbour wherever you may be, take care of yourself 🇬🇧

Two beauties..one with sails and one with brains..making good decisions for herself and her boat lately🎉..with some help of the 'family' there and online. Bravely forward Nicole and sail on the wind of today (or at least try)..❤

I see swimming in the future and not letting it get that many barnacles on her, it’s a process but I’m sure you know the weight and speed is in play when she has to carry so much on here belly. Love seeing another younger person seeing the real world in real time, man I sure wish I had the vision when I was. Go forward and persevere you have the mind set and the courage. Great job great time ahead

In the sand! I know the feeling! now I see that new Delta anchor on a long piece of chain. Good move!
No travel lift? I'd be nervous, too!
YIKES!! Somebody has not been doing their swimming, diving, and scrubbing!

You got to love the community of sailors, always willing to give a helping hand. Your boat really has the look of a true-blue water voyager. So glad to see she's getting the care she deserves. I have never seen a boat hauled out like this, really interesting.

Nicole, she is a beautiful boat. She will be good to you for a lot of years. All the very best. Only 12k miles in a southerly direction to NZ. Take care.

Always nice to get the first grounding out of the way on a new boat. Even better to do it before a fresh bottom job

I enjoyed a few days in Luperon Harbor when I was enroute to Florida from Tortola. Hired a couple of guys to do some work on my rudder. I really loved the town and founded the people to be warm and helpful! The pricing is certainly very affordable!
