Yamaha Powered Studio Monitor 'HS Series' (short)

Ever since the 1970's the iconic white woofer and signature sound of Yamaha's nearfield reference monitors have become a genuine industry standard for a reason - their accuracy. Unlike studio monitors with added bass or treble frequencies which may sound more flattering at first, HS Series speakers were designed to give you the most honest, precise reference possible, providing an ideal sonic platform to build on throughout the mixing process.

I actually still use good old Yamaha NS-10m pro, NS-1000m, as well as other 70s-80s made sealed enclosure 3, 4-way monitors - yeah, they are big and heavy, but very honest and precise in all ranges. I have listened to various HS and MSP monitors - aaand, they're good, but I don't want them, because I really like well-defined and punchy low range of sealed enclosure speakers. Do you really have to make that back-oriented port?

these speakers pick up electronic noise from the environment though... I upgraded to these from cheap loud speakers (that never had a problem with electro magnetic interference) but these HS8's... my god. Switching to genelec.

These monitors are only good for listening. they're not in any way suited for mixing or monitoring. They're too far from reality. Yamaha should be forbidden by law from selling these as studio monitors. I've had a hs50, hs7, the hs8 and the first and later subwoofer. You get better mixes from your imac speakers. Trust me.
