The most powerful thing about it is that it makes him inmune to "Your mom" jokes. If you already attacked your mom in a joke, then your opponent is unable to insult her effectively

i wonder if regular show creators thought of how the phrase “my mom” would be scientifically taken apart and proven to be the best insult ever

i just love how "OH NO BRO" and "MY MOM!" are the two very phrases we know he's saying just as long as we see his mouth moving

What I’m understanding is my mom jokes are the key to world peace

I found it funny the origin of his joke was when him and his dad were making prank calls to truckers and he picked it up from his dad insulting his wife

The REAL reason why it’s the world’s greatest insult is actually revealed in the episode titled “My Mom”, right at the end: it’s bait. Muscle Man knows full well he’s not delivering the joke normally, but in order to correct him on it, you have to insult his mother, which gives him full rights to enact his wrath on you. It’s genius.

They came up with an origin story for the "my mom" jokes on the show. His dad would sit on a CB radio waiting for truckers to say something that could set him up for a "that's what she said" type joke. Then muscle man's dad would say "You know who else [insert double entendre]? MY WIFE!" Muscle man witnessed this as a little kid, didn't understand the double entendres, but did understand that specifying that individual (his father's wife, his own mother) as the punchline of that sort of joke got laughs. And he kept repeating that behavior for the rest of his life, never questioning it.

The line "According to scientific america" sounds like "source: trust me bro"

7 years ago I got married. We had an “advice jar” with pens and paper set out. My sister in law wrote “you know who else leads to violence and horror? MY MOM” I still have it.

To add on to the first element, Muscle Man still adds element of suprise even with the My Mom joke by deviating to at one point "My Uncle John, hes a mechanic. But you know who taught him?". Truly a diverse joke that can evolve at any time

Muscle Man is the KING of pranks, and subsequently the KING of jokes. He definitely knew all of this

I think that it is harder to fight back a "my mom" joke than a "your mom" joke. If you say a "Your mom" joke, they might say something like "No, your mom" or "Yours is worse", but if you say "My mom" and they try to double down on it, you can just own the joke saying something like "Bro, that is what I am saying" and then if they try to flip it by saying something like "Actually my mom too" you can flip it on them and react with shock or disgust.

The concept of a “my mom” joke has surpassed the status of relating to a single being (referring to the mother of the one telling the joke) but instead immediately referring to the joke’s creator muscle man. Not only are they intertwined to a point where muscleman is thought of once the punchline is said, but to a degree that simply mimicking his voice and saying “you know who else” can result in a laugh. The concept of a “my mom” joke is no longer based on the mother, but muscleman himself being such a prominent figure in all of our memories. Truly beautiful

His father canonically made similar jokes, but the punchline was "my wife" instead of "my mom." I guess "my mom" was the insult that he took to heart. Also, he canonically says that nobody gets to make fun of his mother, so that probably has something to do with it.

By far the most important part of this strategically speaking is that making “my mom” jokes takes the power of “your mom” jokes from the opposing party. If they make a “your mom” joke, they’re only empowering muscle man’s conviction.
