I am taking it now. I am in my 5th quarter of it. I have been practicing since 2010 and I have a strong background. Some of these questions are absolutely ridiculous and not based on evidence-based practice. I have wondered if the people writing some of these questions are actually qualified or even practicing in the real world using evidence based practice. Some answers are actually wrong when researching current evidence based practice guidelines.

Finished my first 25 PANRE-LA. 20 out of 25 right. I have been practicing for over 20 yrs+ in Internal Med/ Nephrology. 5 mins felt like 5 seconds. I will definitely be following John's board review as well as Katy Conner's review.

Wow… each section is getting harder! The 5th section had 3 poorly written questions. 2 with incorrect answers. As I move into each quarter I seem to miss yet one more question. How many is too many to miss? I completed all of the CME for life and I continue to review more than 250 pages of notes from the thumb drive video review by John. I will pull out the flash cards and review them periodically. When I open a question and see the area of focus, I will spend 1-2 hours looking at my notes. I’ll look at “Up to Date” if I need more explanation, and add that to my notes. This is my 6th recertification, I’m old and in Orthopedics for most of my career, so the most common medicine areas are less accessible in my brain. I’m starting to become concerned…. What to do??

I did my first 25 as well. I missed 4. So I got 21/25 which has me worried because there is no guide for passing standards. The ones I missed came down to 2 answers. It's also difficult not knowing how other people did. I was also disappointed that they did not reveal more specific information so that you could specifically study that condition before going into the question.

AGREE!! I did this today as well: didn't know about the Bestow technique and missed a few because I didn't read the entire question thoroughly enough: next group i'll be more prepared and have my Pepid online ready for a quick reference, too. Even tho I'm doing this to recert (my 5th recert) I will still attend John's board review course, as i want to be a better clinician and not 'just' pass a test: As a practicing PA for the past 28 yrs (and 15 yrs a Respiratory Therapist before my PA training), I KNOW that John and CME4Life has the BEST CME's for practicing clinicians, bar NONE! Now I'm scared!!! I have been a derm PA for 12 years. Do you have suggestions on best place to search for answers while taking the test? Do your resources/videos have a search function that I could use during the exam?

Hi, How was your 2nd quarter for Panre La? I felt more harder. What resources can we use to pass this exam?
Thanks!!!

I did the first 50 questions and I don’t think a board review course is needed. If you are fast at looking things up you should get 90% of the answers. This is my 7th time taking the recert exam and I have only done two review courses both of which I felt were not really worth it. I think there should be no time limit on the questions because it would give one time to read the question look up the answers read and understand the answers. We are just reading the questions and looking for answers without understanding the answers.

This all makes review courses difficult. How does one propose a review course will help for the numerous subsequent quarters? Doing a review course would certainly help for maybe the first 50 questions but by round three I’m over 6 months from that information that I don’t use on an even monthly basis. So does one have to do board review every 6 months? Curious to others thoughts on how to maintain information that is not ever used in one’s day to day work/profession.

once you open a question is there a timer on each question? if there is a timer can you pause it ?

Get an electronic review book and have 2 computer screens. I didn't study shit and only missed 4. Literally not hard if you have been practicing as a PA, have electronic book, 2 screens and use Bestow technique. Also, I work in ortho oncology, so specialty within specialty lol.
