I'm an Asian and never knew West Virginia till I was eight, but because of my fascination with John Denver's Take Me Home Country Road, I started to become interested with West Virginia and the United States. Hoping to visit this humble state after the pandemic is over. Thanks for sharing this video. Thumbs up!

So, I moved to Wheeling a few months ago from Denver Colorado. I love it here.. I don't necessarily agree with some of the comments saying it's got a lot of crime, that takes place mainly on the island... It's beautiful here, cheap, people are nice and most anything you need/want to do is close by, but hey if you wanna move away from Wheeling be my guest, more to enjoy for me.

I was born and raised in Wheeling and just recently moved to Alabama for a dream job opportunity. But let me tell you, it was extremely difficult to make the decision to leave. Wheeling is truly a special place. From its incredibly rich history (birthplace of the state during the civil war, global center of manufacturing, the original gateway to the west, ect) to its gorgeous historic architecture (home of the highest concentration of original Victorian architecture in the country), to its top-notch schools, to the friendly and caring people, to the wellspring of beauty and recreation that is Oglebay Resort, to the established and growing arts and culture scene (home to one of the oldest art institutes in the country), plenty to do like the Wheeling Symphony (the smallest city in the country to have a full metropolitan-class orchestra), Wheeling Nailers Professional Hockey, all of the festivals and live music throughout the year, I could go on. Wheeling strikes that balance of small town charm with big city amenities. And albeit me being a young male, Wheeling is the kind of place where I could walk around downtown by myself at midnight and feel safe. What's great is that there are now many organizations that are beginning to truly invest in downtown's continued revitalization and beautification with many large-scale projects like new parks and apartment complexes already underway. Wheeling in 5 or so years from now is going to be even more of an amazing gem, make the move now while the housing is still one of the best values in the country! I definitely encourage anyone to look into Wheeling, websites like Wheeling Heritage and Weelunk are great places to start!

Martinsburg, Charles Town, Harper's Ferry, Berkeley Springs. The Eastern Panhandle gets excluded from most anything related to WV. Sad because it's loaded with history, beautiful landscapes, and I was lucky enough to call that part of WV home.

I was born and raised in WV, but live in Kentucky at the present time. I frequently visit my home state to look at its beauty.

West Virginia rocks… born and raised here. Y’all only need to get used to the “hillbilly”twang. West Virginia is most beautiful in the Spring and Fall 😎👍

I live in WV and this list is just the big towns. If you want normal small town living, Beckley is lovely and Bridgeport is great too. But Wellsburg is personally home to me. I swear that smart, educated, and talented people come out of these small towns! It is sometimes hard to earn a six figure job around here, very few do, but Pittsburgh js just 50 minutes away, and if you dont mind the commute, is totally worth it.❤

Coming from Charleston, and going to school in Fairmont, it throughly made me want to puke at the mispronunciations of "Kanawha" and "Appalachian"

I was raised IN Wheeling. I left for 20 years while I was in the Air Force. I kept telling people I was coming back after I retired and I did. I have been back for 23 years and I do not regret it a bit. I love living here and it has not chnged much since I was 14, 50 years ago.

When I was a kid, preteen, we would visit my grandparents in Hinton WV. I loved it. Playing in the river catching crawfish, cross the river and climb the mtn and play in the woods. I haven't been there in probably 40 years I would like to think it's still like that.

I live in rural Mercer county, it has a fairly low crime rate, and isn't overcrowded.
We do have a drug problem but I think that is a problem affecting every city in America now !

As a native West Virginian, I would say the State is beautiful. The rural areas are great, the cities not so good. Our cost of living is fair, but our tax burden is high and our healthcare is poor.

I'm from Huntington, I moved to Morehead, KY IN '07 to care for my two grandsons. In '16 I was able to come home! I'm so GLAD! Huntington is also home to The Thundering Herd of Marshall University. Sadly on November 10, 1970 we lost our whole team in a airplane accident. Please watch "We Are Marshall" it is a true story. Come visit us you are so welcome!

Lifelong WV here. Don’t move to WV if you want an Urban lifestyle. You will get bored quickly. Now, if you want to get back to nature and your idea a great Saturday night is visiting with friends and enjoying a nice backyard fire. This could be your state. The taxes are silly, but real estate is relatively cheap. Be prepared for some issues with internet and infrastructure though. We are a clanny type people, but we are friendly and welcoming to new people.

Most of these cities listed were larger areas. I live in a small town of Gassaway. Population just under 1000 and we have great schools, and family owned businesses. We’re location in the center of the state and only an hour from Charleston, Clarksburg, & Beckley. We have great hunting, fishing and kayaking with lots of camping. If you’re looking for a place to live without neighbors breathing down your neck. Come to Braxton County.
