By digging around in Wiktionary for the etymologies for all of them, I found the meanings of all the month words are quite interesting. And a fun fact: in Chinese, we also use the same character of moon for month-月.
tammi:(dialectal, archaic) heart, core, axis <- January marks the center of the winter
helmi:pearl <- in February the snow melts and freezes again producing at times pearls of ice
maallinen (comparative maallisempi, superlative maallisin):earthly <- in March the snow begins to melt to show the first spots of bare earth
huhta:woodland cleared for cultivation in slash-and-burn method of agriculture
touko:(agriculture) sowing, planting; especially of grain; growing field of grain
kesä:summer (season); (archaic) fallow <- June is the time to plough the fallows
heinä:hay <- haymaking often takes place in July
tehdä heinää = to hay, to make hay, to do hay
elo:(poetic) life; (dated) crop, especially corn
syys-:autumn, fall; autumnal
loka:wet mud or dirt
marras:(archaic, biblical) dead or dying person <- the land "dies" for winter in November
joulu:Christmas

The quiz at the end is awesome. I wish more youtubers teaching would do this.

Thank you for your Finnish language lessons. I just watched your Kirjakieli vs. Puhekieli language comparison and I've seen a number of your others too (including Young learning to speak some Finnish with the double vowels and consonants), and they're well done. Your Helsinki city tour was excellent! My family and I will be in Helsinki, Rovaniemi, Oulu, Vaasa, and Turku in June and July (I'm half Finnish on my mother's side). It's important for me to learn some Finnish, and I've heard fewer people speak English in Northern Finland so it could be very helpful.

I really like the way you compartmentalize your discussions into easily-manageable units like Beginner Tips & Tricks and the Months of the Year. It's so important to know the basic vocabulary before moving on to grammar and sentences, and it's SO much easier to learn from you speaking and explaining Finnish than from pages of text in a book or website. My request to you for additional topics is for counting to 20 or even up to 100 if there's a pattern that can be learned.

It would be so great if you would continue presenting language videos like this and, every few months, have a "rollup" video installment where, as much as possible, you speak using only words & phrases you've explained in your previous months' set of videos. This would allow viewers to self-test their comprehension and review previous videos to catch up on things they missed. Subscribers wanting to learn will feel great seeing their understanding improve, and that, in turn, will motivate them to continue viewing & practicing making them loyal and more-frequent visitors.

A real advantage with your vlog format is how you can mix formal & informal Finnish words & phrases so viewers will become better communicators with Finnish people in all settings, without knowing only formal words to use in less formal settings. Web pages and books can't do this so well; for example, I learned "laitan astiat pois" from a Finnish teaching website, but I don't think I'll ever need to use it. In your videos it's so easy to explain how to say relevant phrases that will really be useful instead.

Those are just my thoughts that I hope might be of interest. I know brevity is a Finnish quality that I'm not using at all here. Sorry for the wall of text. I'm grateful for your hard work and I wish you continued success.

I LOVE this channel, i'm swedish and my mothers family are all finnish, i've been wanting to learn finnish since i was a kid. I started to learn in the beginning of this year and i find it kinda easy, maybe it's the genes and listening to my isoäiti talk finnish to my ätit and täti as a child.
Your channel really is great, it's so much easier to learn when someone explains it and you can hear how the language sounds. It's super hard to find other sources that helps you learn finnish.

I have read somewhere, that tammi also means heart in some dialects. So tammikuu should be heart of winter. Looking forward for more lessons.

I think one of the trickiest things for me is the “h” when it is in the middle of a word.
