Here is the review of the SM SN021 Explorer homage. While this watch is extremely well finished with a great movement, It is definitely over-priced and could do with some extra touches. What are your thoughts?

I have this. I love it. So comfy. Size is perfect. It's my new go to watch.

I have this watch and must say that it is extremely comfortable on wrist. The handset is a little under sized but worth £224 including delivery.

After I reviewed this one, I thought the lume on the indices was a bit weak, but the lume on the hands is pretty good. As you'd kind of expect with the indices not being applied.

So . . . This might be the first time I’ve seen you wear gloves for a review. Getting fancy, my friend 😁

Says it all when you rate the screwdriver lmao. Definitely overpriced, I'd rather have 2 of them seiko 5s and some change. Great reveiw tho mate, honest and thorough 👍

Mate, I don't think the PT5000 is made by Hanzhu, I think it's HK enterprises, but there can be an issue with the lubrication. I landed myself one a few weeks ago for £170, but with the other dial. I would have liked SM to produce the 39mm with the PT5000, or even a Miyota 9015. Perhaps I have been lucky, but the crown engagement on mine is excellent. I think the watch is great for the money, considering the finish, the bracelet, and the movement. Well worth the money for me, especially if you compare it with Swiss or Japanese equivalent's.

Excellent review, terribly bad quality lume, particularly at that price, and then some countries have 20% on top of that price with import duties. You could buy a watch with a locally available guarantee, and a Timex Seastar, a Swiss watch with a Swiss movement and real warranty can be had for the same price as the swiss movement SM watch. At these prices, it's better to go for the big brands with good customer support. I have the same Seiko 5 btw, and it's a great watch. It makes the San Martin look quite there's a 2 year worldwide warranty from Seiko.

Totally correct about the crown, this had me quite concerned but seems inherent with the watch. Thanks for the detailed video!

Its much harder to justify a price difference on a fixed bezel three hand watch than it is on a chrono, or a diver where the extra moving parts require a higher level of engineering to get correct. A fixed bezel relatively plain faced explorer style is hard to justify the price San Martin are asking. (Calling a watch a special edition does not make it special) I have no doubt SM are raising the already high bar they have set with recent releases, but this seems expensive to me.
Save your money guys and wait for Timefactors/Smiths to produce the next batch of the Everest PRS-25 36 a much better explorer with a Miyota 9039.
In the mean time get a Parnis 40mm or a Bliger 36mm for less than a quarter of the price!

I did buy this exact same watch and I fully agree with your comments about the poor lame, the lackluster dial color, the poor crown feeling, and mine had an issue with the screws on the bracelet, they were just too hard that I ended up going to my watchmaker to size it. I think this is a $200 watch at most.

They released the V3 with nice updates like a thinner bezel and applied indices. Amazing looking! Not sure if you've had a chance to have a look at it but do you think the price is still too high with the updates?

I'm also a bit worried about some of the stories I've heard about some of the PT5000 movement issues so I'm keeping an eye/ear out trying to gather information. Hopefully the price will drop enough during the future sale for me to get it 🤞

I would love to see this watch with a different handset, and more lume.

Too expensive and should have used an NH38. Looks nice though.

When compared to the 5 (much better brand) on your wrist, IMO it's not their best offering. For sure it will be well finished, but SM seem to be cutting down on features while raising their prices on their newer models. Can't see me buying another SM anythime soon.

You’re 100% right about that dial. I'm really getting sick of the matte grey color. If I was going to get one, I think I'd go for the limited edition version simply because it has applied markers, and the line is better. Honestly though, I don't have any interest in this one because of the price to what you get ratio. Great, honest review as always, Zeb!

Enjoyable review buddy....I'm onboard with the hex logo, I like the matt dial but would like to see more colour options (still matt) disappointed in the lume and would rather the whole thing was brushed....must admit I was hoping that SM would nail it as I'm looking for a really good EX homage that would be a keeper....🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿⌚🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿⌚

The crown might be a QC issue. I have the sub dial version and it pops out really well. Lots of spring to it.

I have the SN020-G with an NH-35 and I recond it's much better value and looking than this version! I don't get the hype for a 36mm watch...

Just get the 39mm vintage version. With a plain dial. You won’t regret it.

I was expecting applied indexes
😢 This dull printing dial is soooo disappointing.
Totally agree with you, sunburst would be better, applied indexes and much better lume. Not in par with the price at all!
No that bezel, why is it so big, it should be slightly slimmer
