Now that the pandemic is over and profits are in the decline, they can throw to the streets all those employees they exploited during the pandemic when profits were high.

Second, corporations and investors exploit the middle class tech workers and discard them when economic winds shift to the disadvantage of investors.

Third, a pandemic economy is far different and far more profitable when the entire country is working remote than when everyone is forced to return to offices. Two completely different economies.

One can even reasonably argue remote employees and shifting the entire economy toward remote workers is far better for the climate and preventing global warming by reducing the use of fossil fuels than forcing the entire planet to return to congested and expensive traffic conditions, high emissions, and fossil fuels.
