Why Do People Believe In Lizard People?

I thought it might be a nice thing to briefly look at a conspiracy theory that seems to be the most outlandish ever devised, and why up to twelve million Americans believe it. The idea that some people are not people at all- but in fact are lizards that look like people.

To believe that there aren't any world changing conspiracies being conceived and perpetrated by powerful groups to further their agenda is a logical fallacy and confirmation bias in and of itself.

A lot of this is also straight-up the warped reasoning of psychosis. A lot of people with schizophrenia suffer from delusions like this, especially the aspects of being somehow important and "downloading" knowledge from somewhere else. Honestly I think many of the originators of conspiracy theories have the disorder, which makes sense because in many historical societies schizophrenics and other neurodivergents prone to psychosis were considered oracles and shamans with insight into the "divine, " and people often heeded their advice. Just in case anyone gets offended, I have schizophrenia and I recognise many of these thought patterns.

I hate the label "conspiracy theories." It implies that there are no genuine conspiracies.

Did you know the aliens in the Movie "They Live" where originally supposed to be reptiles? The Short story from 1963 entitled "Eight O Clock in the Morning" was the basis for the film. The Short story featured reptilians. So did the Goosebumps book "Calling All Creeps"
