These are beautiful pieces of craftsmanship and to have an almost perpetual motion mechanism to keep them going is so ingenious. I have one little one on the wall and picked up another that needs attention. At 7:15. I have never seen wooden weights, that's cool and a gorgeous clock as they all are.

My Grandmother had a Cukoo clock that was appraised at $2000.00US. MY DRUG ADDICTED AUNT (MY GRANNY'S YOUNGEST DAUGHTER) SOLD IT & THE WOMAN WON'T GIVE IT BACK. MY MOTHER & I HAVE FILED TO TAKE HER TO COURT. We tried to buy it back adding an additional $500.00 on top of what she gave my good for nothing aunt but she refused. Now we're going ti court over a Cuckoo clock. I never knew Cuckoo clocks could be so expensive until my Gran's clock was stolen. You have beautiful clocks.

0:41 That cuckoo clock reminds me of my American Aunt Terry. She and my American Uncle Ian used to have a cuckoo clock at their house, an apartment in Avalon, California, and I remember when I would spend the night there, I would smile as I heard, "cuckoo! cuckoo! cuckoo!" every hour, 😍 followed by a sweet rendition of "Edelweiss". Unfortunately, Aunt Terry recently told me that Uncle Ian got rid of it because the weights got all rusty. Even worse, my American cousin Robert, pulled on the weights when he was little, which I bet would have broken that sweet clock! I told Aunt Terry, "Hey, you could've sent it to me and I would be glad to have fixed it for you!". We have clockmakers here in Eugene, Oregon that are probably familiar with those particular problems. I wonder if that clock plays "Edelweiss" like the one my American Aunt Terry and Uncle Ian used to have. I wish I could get another one like that for them. Where would I be able to find one? Would I be able to find it locally? Or would I have to go all the way to Germany? That's where I'm confused!

I love clocks of all kinds but my brother and sister got us a cuckoo clock from Engstler. Man I feel like I have a treasure! I could have one in every room! They sent it from Germany. To me it's better than having a pet!

I RECENTLY BOUGHT A NON WORKING ANTIQUE ONE FOR 20 BUCKS I ORDERED CLOCK OIL LIQUID BEARINGS AND CAREFULLY BLEW OUT DUST AND OILED ALL PIVOTS AND MOVING PARTS. PUT IT BACK TOGETHER AND CLEANED THE CASE WITH PURE MURPHYS OIL THEN OIL POLISHED IT. IT WORKS PERFECTLY AND I REALLY ENJOY IT NOT TO MENTION IT LOOKS GREAT IN MY ROOM.

Nowadays the cuckoo call, strike sound of thick and hard coiled wire and tune played by music-box are all recorded and programmed in electronic circuit board of sound chips connected to speaker and installed in some quartz clocks so that they electronically imitates these types of clocks. But nothing can beat the real music-boxes, cuckoo bellows and coiled wire gong.

Is it a pain to wind a clock once a day..? What happens when you miss a day? You need to reset the time?
