Woman Found Naked with Her Tongue Cut Out After Tinder Date on Tropical Island: Cops

A woman vacationing on the tropical island of Mauritius met a tragic fate after using the popular app Tinder to find a date, police say. Zaliya Shamigulova, a university lecturer from Russia, was found naked and dead in a makeshift grave. Authorities set their sights on her date, Puryavirsingh Sundur, who allegedly confessed to the murder when questioned. Sundur allegedly cut her tongue out "so she could not call for help.” Law&Crime’s Sierra Gillespie breaks down the disturbing murder in paradise.

A Tinder date doesn't mean we're getting married and should never be taken seriously. If this man comes from a strong muslim background, his family and community would never allow this marriage. He is lying to investigators about proposing. However, he felt comfortable admitting to the honor crime because he's from a patriarchal society that believes in punishing women for perceived disrespect. They definitely aren't going to throw him under the jail for killing a foreign woman. He simply feels protected by other men who think the same way, this includes their law enforcement. Also admitting to the crime upfront gives you brownie points.

She refused him and wounded his ego and that's why he cut out her tongue and took her life. There was never a romance and he didn't like a woman telling him that he was an option. This woman was on vacation and not looking for anything serious and that's why nobody had heard of him before this.
