When you purchase new Ag/AgCl electrodes for ActiveTwo, soaking in tap water with non-Iodized table salt (NaCl) can be useful in reducing offset and drift that may otherwise affect your first few recordings. A small variation in the same basic procedure of submerging the electrodes in salt water is useful for testing electrodes to ensure there are no cable, connector, or electrode problems. Problems like this usually would not be expected to arise until after hundreds of uses, but when problems with the electrodes arise, knowing how to isolate the cause is key to getting it fixed.
