Patch by Channel

Patch is where fixture assignments and properties are stored and can be viewed. Once a channel is patched to an output, and the output is connected to a device (for example a dimmer, moving light, or accessory), the channel will then control that device.

I'm in my schools fresh new stagecraft class and none of us on lights have any idea what the heck we're doing with this

This is advanced already. Anywhere good to learn literally from scratch.?

If you don't understand this video, you really shouldn't be learning EOS yet. Go learn on a preset board first. Learn the basics of DMX and how to address dimmers/fixtures. You have to learn to at least crawl before you can stand up (because that's what this video really is, learning to stand up, forget about walking or running...).

If you don't understand or know the basics concepts of lighting and what the words mean learning to program a lighting console is the wrong end to start. There is a lot of videos on YT going over that, and even better s if someone more experienced can explain and teach you.

I really hate ETC. Its so complicated to understand. GrandMA is so much easier and better...!

Sorry to say - I totally give up understanding the ETC Ion. It is complicated, the 600+-pages manual is pure greek and the videos does not help much either. Feels like constructed by engineers, not light designers.
Too bad my theatre group decided to buy Ion XE 20. Now I quit.

Not sure why everyone is freaking out in the comments, this makes total sense to me (maybe it's because I had my theatre design teacher teach me some of it lol)
