With the brand new edition of Warhammer 40K dropping this summer, the community was excited to get their first glimpses of the new Codices coming out with the new ruleset. Tidbits dropped with the release of the Indomitus box set, but confirmation and further elaboration was hotly anticipated. Well the wait is finally over! Phil, the Glacial Geek, is here with an early look at the brand new Space Marines Codex!

one important thing for the chaplain strategem that makes the litany pop has another, even better effect... you dont have to do it in the command phase.. select it at the start of ANY PHASE! So you can teleport/shock/exit a transport with the chaplain and still do the litany!

First born capt on bike with a lighting claw is still good. First born bikers with chain swords good for sure. Terminators losing their armor variants not thrilled. Though three wounds is great. First born bike captain turned into a chapter master I have to play around with

Relic Terminators make me sad. No more 4+ invulnerable save so the Cataphractii are pretty weak now. Especially Transhuman Physiology is Primaris only.

1:49 top right "Knights of the Raven" are my creation, silver armour, they do not have any red especially on knee pads.

Phil, it should be noted that Strategic Reserves now allow you to deploy units in turns 4 and 5, they're only counted as destroyed if not deployed by the end of the battle.

Is there something about mixed units or special ammunition for the Deathwatch in the Codex? Watchmaster/Captain? Something besides the chapter tactic?

Hate the Honour the Chapter change. Better idea would have been to add "Tactical, Assault, and Devastator" as keywords and have all units with the Assault keyword be able to do Honour the Chapter

Any idea why there are different point values for the Chapter Command upgrades? The points on pg 98 are different from the points on pg 202. Or am I just missing something?

Seeing some of the changes, I'm still sure the first born will be phased out come 10th or 11th edition. Great review as always! With as much as you play with Neil, you should look at crusade, i know we'd all love to hear your narratives!

Pisses me off the Primaris characters still lack options. I'm not wanting to make them all powerful but being able to take a force staff instead of a force sword would be nice. I'm converting a white scars librarian out of Tigurius is this really too much to ask?

Why does Gravis Armor Increase Toughness by 1 but a Terminator not? Are there any Real Size Comparisons on the Internet? Also Centurion Armor would be interesting compared to Gravis and Termis in Real Size.
