Always make sure you do this 1 thing when picking up and dropping off a car rental!

Oh yes. I do that with every single vehicle I rent. And because I’m a commercial photographer I travel a lot and have rented at least 15 cars this year alone. I take photos of the entire vehicle before and after and it actually saved me on one of my rentals this year because there was some pretty big scratches on the front of it that they asked me about and I was able to show proof that it was there when I picked it up.

Never rent from hertz. My brother in law was accused of not turning in the car even though he received a receipt. A ten hour rental turned into a $5, 000+ headache. This happened July 2023 at Hertz at the San Diego /Tijuana CBX .

Just purchased the damage insurance and they won’t even bother checking out the car upon returning it.

As long as you add the loss and damage coverage. You will not financially liable to all the damage or loss on the car. I work at hertz 😊
