With this video, we're launching our new series dedicated to the 10th anniversary of the tsunami in Japan. In this video, we map the Miyako area, which has been hit very hard. We will show, for example, what the cities of Taro and Yamada look like today, how the restoration of the area continues and other interesting curiosities. The video has a purely educational and informative character and you will not find the purposefully depicted destruction in it. Thank you for watching, like and subscribing.

Overwhelming, but we applaud the Japanese people for their extreme resiliency, discipline and great resolve. They have silently tried to rise above the ruins. Take care always! Godspeed.

10 years passed and the images of Tsunami and destruction of the cities, the pain and horror of people, are very sad and terrible. I wish good vibrations for all japanese people. Joao Carlos - São Paulo - Brasil.

Taro was destroyed by tsunami in 1896, 1933, 2011. Each time they thought they had built a strong enough protection. This time, the whole town was raised by 10 meters on top of this is the huge wall. Will it be enough for the next one? Only one town had a wall high enough to stop the tsunami. Fudai village was spared thanks top a 30 meter high wall.

Thank you for this video documenting the slow recovery from that terrible event in Japan's recent history.
The devastation of that tsunami is by far the most awe inspiring, horrifying and heart breaking footage I have ever witnessed, and my heart goes out to all your people who's lives were forever changed by that fateful day.
I constantly am wondering how the towns - like Minamisanriku, Kamaishi and so many others - are recovering from this disaster. Given I do not speak or read Japanese, it can be hard to find all that information. So I really appreciate these videos you produce in English and I am so glad to have found your channel (and subbed of course :) ). Thank you so much for the work you do!

Good job. I like how you lined up the present and then started where the tsunami came in. That was clever, and added more gravity to what was a terrifying event.

Both the footages and their recoveries are both unbelievable!

I still can't believe that it's been 10 years since the earthquake / tsunami.

Taro was devastated by the tsunami. Giant blocks of concrete from the sea wall were left tipsy-turvy here and there according to the whims of the water. The only real remnants of homes were the scoured concrete footers with an occasional shoe or other oddment laying about. It was heart-breaking.

I would love to visit Japan. It's such a beautiful country. So green and gorgeous.

It's terrifying how much destruction water can do. I was caught in a flash flood in the Southwest of the U.S. when I was a child and large bodies of water still give me anxiety if I'm near it and I'm over 50 years old now. I can't imagine how a lot children of the 2011 tsunami feel about the sea now. If not outright fear, then some anxiety probably.

Thank you for the video, still heart breaking to see the devastation, I pray they never have to go through that again.

This is a great video. I am a big fan of Top Topics. You always produce very instructional videos and I always learn a lot. I was wondering what the cities and towns hit by the super tsunami of 2011 look like today. Now, because of your excellent videos, I know.

Keep up the good work. I will keep watching. Thank you!

Thank you for doing these videos. They’re not only very interesting but I think they’re very important. At one point top topic said they weren’t going to do more videos about the 2011 tsunami because they didn’t wanna go in that direction, but I guess they change their minds.👍

I’m a new subscriber and have gone through watching the series on what has been accomplished in the ten years after the 2011 earthquake and tsunami. They were all very interesting. Incredibly strong people rising above such devastation and tragedies of losing neighbors and love ones is so inspiring. Thank you for the work you put into making these. I appreciate it very much.

I'm American but I have always had a love for Japan, ever since my grandpa who was a Korean war vet was stationed there he told me happy stories. God bless anyone that had to go through this.

I cannot think of how it must be to have entire towns destroyed. Generations of buildings, documents, history and memories. It is so terribly tragic. Sending comfort and care to all the people of Japan.
