US health officials provide more details on the coronavirus outbreak – 1/28/2020

The total number of cases of the Wuhan coronavirus has now reached nearly 4,700 worldwide with over 100 deaths in China, Chinese health authorities said Tuesday. Department of Health and Human Services Secretary Alex Azar provides further details on the outbreak. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention Director Robert Redfield also speaks, as well as representatives from the National Center for Immunization and Respiratory Disease Director and National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases.

The diagnostic tools continue to be developed which will pick up asymptomatic cases, however generally speaking the genome tests being used are based on antigens, and/or code. Do we know how early on this can be detected in tissue or fluids based on particle count of the virus? Only PCR was mentioned. Comments welcome. In addition asymptomatic transmission means using temperature is nearly pointless at airports or anywhere for that matter.
