This is so relatable. As someone who grew up with severe anxiety and OCD, I lived a life of constant terror and worry. Anything that was even slightly scary was too much for me to bear, so I avoided it like the plague. My life really was like a horror movie. I was scared of parasites in my food, monsters standing next to my bed, and my abusive father snapping and hurting my mom or my brother. I didn't understand horror because I didn't understand how people could enjoy being afraid when fear defined my life. It wasn't until I got away from that situation and started taking medication that I finally developed an appreciation for horror.
