You choose a number "x". Then you do these operations:
x +(x+1) = 2x+1
(2x+1)+9=2x+10
(2x+10)/2=x+5
x+5-x=5
So you'll always get 5.

I love to figure these out. It’s obvious because you are basically multiplying it by two but adding one then adding nine more to make it ten total. Then when you divide it by two you only really added 5 so when you subtract your original number it is 5
