How to Load Heavy Logs Without a Loader

This is how you can load heavy logs without a log loader. We don't have a loader handy at this place so we rigged up this setup. This was a large dead white fir tree that died this year. I cut it down in a previous video and quartered the butt log. We are loading up the quarters into my dump trailer to take to my Dad's Woodmizer LT15 sawmill. He will cut these logs into lumber and slabs.

As a non-professional sawmill owner who logs from his timber stand, I enjoy these videos. I frequently have to find innovative ways to move logs as I almost always work alone, so it's fun to watch your approaches to different challenges and your style of presenting the activities. Keep up the good work.

Was smiling the whole time you were working with your Dad. Brought back good memories for me, still wish I could still do it. And I like the no nonsense loading solution. Thanks

I was always nervous working around my dad. Even as an adult I never wanted to let him down. It’s great to see you two working together and doing a great job, without dying.

Man you have me thinking about abandoning the swamp on the Potomac after a quarter century to head on out to Eastern Oregon to learn how to be a woodsman at the tender age of 51.

A wire rope puller works well, especially if you don't have a 2nd vehicle or a second person. My other comment had some brand names, but it disappeared. But your truck works quicker when you have the help.

It was good to hear a peavy called by it's right name. So many channels use some odd name for them.

G'Day Mr Wilson's, get them to the mill anyway you can. If there to big for me I have a fella with a tilt tray fitted with a 20 ton PTO winch as you know its easier to drag than lift in fact he dragged a 21 foot by 3 foot Grey Box log on for me this morning, It was around 20, 000 pounds👍.

your loader salesman would tell you the better way to do that is to buy a loader. they're funny that way. their solutions always seem to involve buying something.
