My grandma used to say "just because you're poor doesn't mean you have to be dirty".

I'm Brazilian, and there is something people say when they are poor, that is: "I am poor, but I am clean!"
Being poor is not a reason for being dirty!

It's a cultural thing. I've seen poorer, more crowded, and even completely war-torn places on several continents and none of it was as bad as India. In fact, not even slightly.

The top issue is Herd mentality. They consider cleaning as a dirty job, now look at their places 🤧

Indians want to have a good reputation to the world and be perceived as rich but the reality of their country is very different. You receive criticism because you deserve it, and the issues with your rivers and cities full of trash are not an "India only" issue, you guys are harming our environment therefore affecting all of us. If you want to be perceived in a good light then maybe you guys should start changing your mentality and having basic discipline.

Whenever I tell someone to not throw garbage on the streets they tell me that "it's the government's job" or "one person not throwing won't change anything". It's disappointing.

Could you imagine what a clean-up campaign would reveal under all that trash? They might find entire cities, entire families under that
