Have you tried scoring the clay before trying to put the broken pieces on them??

I think adhering them to an already fired and glazed vessel might be safest. Maybe you could still stick them on before drying, and when they fall out that leaves you with a perfect depression to glue the tiles back into that you can leave unglazed so it'll take the glue or grout better?

Gurl the indented design when the tiles fell off is so cute you should have fired it like that

I'm afraid it's not gonna work. Since the clay has shrinkage but the ceramics don't have any shrinkage as they dry, and hardly have shrinkage in the kiln, I don't see how it could work.
Also the clay can't really bind to the ceramics.

However, if you just layed the mosaik on a glased plate, the pieces would sink into the glase as the glase melts, and that would stick them to the plate. (Not the securest of bonds, but a sort of band none the less)

I’d recommend finishing the undecorated piece first, then using the normal mosaic grouting methods. Theres plenty of resources for beginners!

you could sell the messed up ones as art water mugs. For artists to use to clean their brushes. maybe write Art water somewhere on them

Great designs. They’ll pop off because the slip doesn’t have anything to hold on to. The glazed pieces are fired, there are no air pockets, it’s not porous.

What could would is if u fired the piece normally. The used special glue for ceramic on ceramic.

This is actually a great way to reuse old cup or mugs you dont like! Nothing gets wasted. Love it!
