In this step-by-step tutorial, learn how to insert images directly into cells in Microsoft Excel. Your images can now be part of the worksheet, instead of floating on top. You can move and resize cells, sort and filter, and work with images within an Excel table. This improvement unlocks and facilitates many new scenarios, such as tracking inventories, creating employee dashboards, or building games and brackets.

The IMAGE function inserts images into cells from a source location, along with alternative text. All you need to do is type the following into a cell: =IMAGE(source, [alt_text], [sizing], [height], [width]).

I've been looking for a solution to this for a long time now, but didn't find anything satisfactory. This helps a great Kevin.

Can you also share if there's any way we can add images without online sources, like upload from a folder.

The Image feature is great, but for now, seems you must be an Office Insider to have access to and use it. I updated my Office 365 and still don't have the new Image function. I was all hyped up to use it for a spreadsheet I am doing that needs photos, but I am not an Office Insider, so no access. Bummer!! Hopefully, it will be rolled out soon.

Are you spying on me, Kevin? This is the third time I have a specific issue with office and you come up with a video about it a week after. I was just wondering last week how come it's not possible to insert images to cells in such an advanced product as excel. Got my answer. Amazing! Loves your videos. They are really helpful.

Waaaah! I don't have IMAGE as a selection. Closest option is "IMAGINARY." Have a Microsoft 365 subscription and am using Excel 16.64 on a Mac. Wha' happened??

1. Can't use locally stored images? Then that makes this very limited.
2. Requirements at the end should have been mentioned up front.
