Go to a skate park. Learn what transition, pumping, slamming, is. Get used to having a board under your feet all the time.
Totally different techniques but when you understand pumping you realise how to pump on a board of any board sport. You don't want shouting " pump dude" understanding transition and so on is helpful at the skate park, even whether your goofy or reg.
