I live in Florida where Alligators are very common so i make it a rule to never swim in rivers, lakes, or canals the it's not worth losing your life
I live pretty close to where this happened at and there are plenty of signs that warn you of alligators why they decided to ignore them is beyond me

Some humans react incredibly courageous and stay exceptionally calm in life and death circumstances. This is one of them.

I lived in Dickinson Texas off the Bijou. You knew there were some gators and other big fish, even possibly bull sharks. I was one person that refused to swim off the dock. When big storms come in, they track up n push from Galveston to Houston a lot of water and big critters.

He saved his friends life, gave them time to escape. I appreciate how he thinks of God and was praying till the very end!! His faith in Lord over came his fear. Best testimony in Christ I have heard!

Go take a look at clips of death roll and come back here: you'd fully appreciate his audacity.

Are we going to pretend it's normal to swim in water that you know has gators? Glad he's okay.

I used to swim in the lakes here in Central Florida back in the 70's and 80's being a native Floridian. No way I would these days though! The gator population is too great and too many people have fed them over the years making them associate people with food. Glad this guy survived such an ordeal!

I would become a gator hunter after this. I would definitely make gator boots out of that gator.

The death roll is a gators way of DISORIENTING it's prey. Then you drown

Our daughter made the news for also surviving an alligator attack. Thankfully she was in a floaty device and held on and he only bit her and she was able to get away with only 11 stitches. She is now 9 years old and has studied gators and still enjoys seeing them out in nature on hikes and such. It's smart to be educated on gators if anywhere where they live for sure. Glad he survived and I'm sorry for his loss. Glad he is able to tell the story and make others aware!

Why didn’t his mates go in & confront the alligator as a group. Safety in numbers + bluff.
