Great video. Thanks. I bought a Synology unit last year to replace my Drobo and have been very pleased with it. It's particularly adept at doing things like cloud backups. I have my photo library effortlessly backed up by the Synology unit to an Amazon S3 bucket and it just works. Same for Dropbox. Keep up the good work.

Interesting review. Most of youtubers just show units front and back, talk about specs and (if u are lucky) shows some basic charts with speed results. Here i saw drive trays, learned about plastic pins (dont really like thoose) or how long it take to boot up. Email/sms related info is a good addition too since its like no one else on yt even noticed it. Thanks

great video, I just pulled the trigger on a DS918+, been using the hacked version Xpenology for 6 months, that drove me to actually pay for the unit as it is "that good" as you say.

What RAID type did you use? Parity bit drive?

How do you explain all the test that NAS PK World does that always show the QNAP out performing the Synology device?
