Great series, played like a variant of Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy which was a variant of the Cambridge Five.

Definitely one of the best books I’ve read in years. Hopefully the series is good, it has a lot to live up to.

A good story with preposterous lighting and grading. In the 60s we actually had electricity and lighting bulbs great than 5 watts. Totally stupid desaturated grading too. The DP and grader should watch and learn from the movie Oppenheimer to understand how to create the same atmosphere but in a way that's not totally unnatural. And, no, you don't need to shoot on 70mm to get that.

Canon Foreigner: Lily Thomas is fictional, the other main characters are not. Deliberate Values Dissonance: MI5 operative Lily Thomas — a woman from Northern England who's married to a black man — is contrasted with the university-educated, upper-class "chaps" like Elliott who make up the SIS. Really?
