I installed one TV mount today. As I was drilling a pilot hole for these long screws I hit some resistance in the joist and immediately stopped drilling. I drilled next to it instead. Better be safe than sorry

Or electricians could easily route the wires differently. There’s usually only 1 of 2 walls in most rooms that a person will mount a TV to.

Assuming that no metal plate is covering an area where wire is running through the stud, could I drill through the drywall in the intended place where the mounting bolt is going, and then drill 1/16 to 1/8th inch at a time and then look inside the hole with a flashlight and see if there is a cavity where romex or pipe may be running through?
