This maneuver is proving to be the most difficult for me to master

That animation @1:02 helped so much. It's always drawn out on a 2 dimensional plane which can make it hard to visualize.

Bank does not stop at 45 degree point. He said it twice. 1:45 & 2:37

I guess it's a lot easier when your controls actually doing something. The planes I fly (Maule MXT-7's) are like Spanish galleons. Sometimes the ailerons are just for decoration.

Hey, thanks for the video. As a CFI candidate, I sometimes watch these as a way to adjust how I speak about and teach maneuvers. I noticed something at 1:45 that may or may not be a discrepancy. Mr Tom said that you should stop the bank at the 45 degree point and continue to pitch up. I would suggest that this is incorrect according to the Airplane Flying Handbook, FAA-H-8083-3B, chapter 9. The book outlines how the maneuver should be done and, as it is written by the FAA, I can only imagine that it is what the DPE's look for. Of course, the argument 'As long as you make your minimums, what does it matter?' could be made here, but I attest that being a pilot is not just about making the mins. It is about being able to follow directions and learning from a set standard so that all american aviators, no matter what part of the country you are from, can preform to the standard or better.

did anybody notice how fast this guy was speaking?! that maunever is a SLOW maneuver and he should've slowed down a notch to reflect the pace of pitch bank change

Hard to follow what Tom means by undoing the the bank & undoing the pitch, "here we go", "still moving", etc. Nice video to show the timing of the entire maneuver though. Not sure bank ever stops moving. May seem that way at the top because pitch has to increase to slow the airplane there, but wouldn't be wise to tell a DPE that I'm holding bank fixed on a checkride.

This is cool however Lazy 8 is not part of Commercial Multi Engine check ride

Beautiful aircraft. You should do a video on the twin specificity and on the rest of your fleet. That would be nice

Love seeing the videos in the twin, what is the cruise in it at 75%. I'm always learning, thanks Jason

Tom! Love you on the Stuck Mic Avcast and love the podcast in general. Love Aviation Careers podcast as well. Finally put a face to a voice. :)

I have the hardest time with these! I was always told "you're too mechanical" so that is why I will not take the CFI ride...either way. Cool video

Hi there!
In minute 3 you say "...we want to recognize where the wind is coming from" . Why would you say that? I mean, you are quite high above ground. At that altitud I think that you are barely going to notice the drift in that short time, which is the only thing that the wind is going to affect you. No change in orientation or anything else.

Jason could you help Tom with a headset suggestion? The boom mic goes on the left...
