These are category of PAF pickups.
Which do you like?

どちらもPAF系統であるDiMarzio PAFとPAF PROを比較しました。
また、PAF PROはPAFからどのように進化しているのか、
簡単な検証音源ですが参考になれば幸いです。

【Heavy backing tone】00:00 ~
Mr. Big - Daddy, Brother, Lover, Little Boy shot cover.
(but I can't play like a Paul Gilbert…）

　LANEYのアンプとPAF PRO搭載のギターといえばポール・ギルバートさんなので、
　それっぽく弾いてみました。
　こう比べるとPAF PROが見た目によらず、しっかりPAFのアップデート版なのがよくわかります。
　PAFの方がジャリっとした成分が多いですが、PAF PROはそのジャリっと成分をわずかに抑え、
　巷でよく言われる通り”アー”の周波数帯がわずかに持ち上がっている印象です。
　しかし大袈裟にブーストされているわけでなく、あくまでも自然な印象で、
　しっかりギターやアンプの個性も反映されています。

【crunch~rhythm tone】00:45 ~
First 4-bar, guitar volume 6
and after 4-bars, guitar volume full.

　最初にギター側のVolを6に絞り、あとからフルアップで弾いています。
　PAFはシングルコイルの感触も持ち合わせており、
　Fenderギターから持ち替えても違和感がありません。
　PAF PROは巻弦に”ギョリッ”とした成分が足されており、
　Gibson Burst Buckerに似た印象を受けました。

【Lead tone】01:35 ~

　PAFは上記の通りジャリっとしたプレゼンスの成分が多いので、
　ピッキングの反応が速い印象です。
　PAF PROはそれにトルクを持たせた印象で、後からmidの”泣き”を感じられます。

【clean~crunch tone】02:29 ~

　クリーンサウンドはあまり違いが感じられない、、と思いきや、
　やはりPAF PROには巻弦に”ギョリッ”とした成分を感じます。

I like both pickups but prefer the PAF Pro which I began using in 1986. Still a great pickup. Very versitile and handles high gain and cleans very well. I like the PAF more as a neck pickup when combined with a Tone Zone or Super D bridge.

PAF pro for me! It's the same basic tone as the regular PAF but only with more output, definition, clarity and presence. That is what dimarzio designed it for.

That DP103 has clearer low mids. Sounding much more high fidelity overall. I would love to play with that tone all day long.

Dp103 sounds more ¨ LesPauly¨ to me, great sounds but i also find very interesting the pafpro sound, so...i guess you have to have both 🤔🤔, Great comparison, thanks 😃👍👍

I like the PAF PRO for the tones you play. It it better balanced, where the SH-18 and DP103 are really bright. It also works better for high gain IMO.

The PAF sounds more round and open. More of an all rounder. The PAF Pro on the other hand sounds tighter has that "Satch lead tone" vibe to it.

I think the pad pro is clearer (almost single coil like). Which I really like. But if I’m listening to a Humbucker, I kind of want that Les Paul sound, which you get with the regular PAFs. Tough call. Both are great.

The fallacy here is that NEITHER of these are anything like a PAF 😂 they build whatever they want and slap the PAF name on it when they're nothing like PAF's.

These don't sound anything like a PAF 😂 and the screws look like slugs with lines cut in them. They're not even screws. There's no maple spacers. Neither of these are built like nor do they sound like a PAF. PURE GARBAGE PICKUPS.
