Welcome to The Onyx Report's Daily Black Masculinist News, where we Black Male Justice Advocates uplift Black men and boys using critical analysis in today's video, "Are Black Fathers the Most Involved?"

The Onyx Report is a program that critically analyzes the experiences, histories, and perceptions pertaining to Black males in American society across age, class, religion, sexuality, and occupation. I am your host, Dr. T. Hasan Johnson, Associate Professor of Africana Studies at Fresno State, Black Male Studies scholar, and Black Male Justice Advocate. In the program, we examine current events and major issues using an empirically-driven Black masculinist theoretical lens, thus including such concepts as the Black male dual economy, anti-Black misandry, phallicism, the subordinate male-target hypothesis, the subculture of violence theory, and the Black Gynarchy).

Black fathers care about their kids? But the TV said…

Remember statistically if they reflect negatively on black men they must be believed that all cost but when they don't now all-of-a-sudden number can lie.

The main pushback I’ve heard about this info was that the study was done on only 3, 500 men. It wasn’t large enough of a study to make a difference

Black fathers are very involved with their families but you see it doesn't fit the stereotype in this Society. Of black man bad. So it's ignored.

The push back I’ve heard is of black men are the most involved fathers then why do black men keep talking about a single mother problem…

It’s time for an updated study. Would like to get even more data the help debunk fatherhood myths

The duality of being home or available to your kids is that you dont access all of your financial resources. So we as a society have to decide what we value more... Bcuz imo. Our counters in the workforce are less involved but they also work more hours.

Assuming we are the most involved.... What are the end results?

I find it hard to believe that "Most Involved" trumps "Present In The Home".

Yep! All these Black kids are just pretending their fathers abandon them. The most involved fathers are raising a bunch of liars. Shame these kids keep making this up.

As a collective, we are not involved as we should be. I dont think any reasonable observation can dispute that. The fact that there are mostly single mothers speak to that fact.

Responsible, committed, involved men dont leave their children to be raised in fractured households. Its bad for the child

Also fathers protect, provide, and ensure stability. Black neighborhoods are for the most part unstable and under the control of outsiders. That's a sign of uninvolved fathers. We have to up the ante of what a father is and it cant come from charts and data but the mirror of what a healthy family and community looks like

I would say black men aren’t most involved but it’s not for lack of trying the government and the mothers are making men jump through hoops to be fathers. It’s easier to create a new family at time then to have to deal with a baby momma that’s doesn’t want to let you father your kid or wants you to dictate how you father. Black men are involved but any father outside of the home ultimately doesn’t have authority to effectively father. The women and government are the main impediment, let alone with dads being kicked out and having to deal with kids that have been turned against them. It’s sad that men usually only get the kids to intervene on problems that have already happen, no real prevention. I’ve seen black men totally disregarded on simple things such as haircuts for their sons, custody, etc. The women is treated as the more valuable parent as default

You have to be careful with statistics. This study compares father's in the same living situation by race but it doesn't tell you the likelihood of being in particular situation by race.
