The "horror" element runs consistently through the movie and you are left wondering who is who and what is going on behind the scenes. No need to worry about blood and gore, but the chill factor is there, if you're in it for that. It is also a coming of age story - one relevant to almost every generation in late modern history. The Dads do some really creepy things too. Enjoy.

It's funny how people are calling this trash without getting the message behind this film.
This film revealed real life horrors behind the supernatural ones but of course some of ya'll are too butthurt or too blind to what is really going on and the symbolism behind it.

I didn't care for it.
I had to check out the most recent comments, because a large number of relevant comments were from people who loved this movie, and I thought that I couldn't be the only one who didn't like it.
I see a couple of recent comments from people who aren't fans of of.

I thought it was boring and that the scenes of Shay/Lillith controlling the men was "cartoonish" and almost comedic.
Kyle wanted to control Shay's mom, but couldn't, so he abandoned her while she was pregnant. He told her to have an abortion, she wouldn't, so he left. I would like to know how things were as far as control, with Jo's mom.

I do know that there are real churches that do this to girls, and I'm glad I never had to go through anything like it.

This is only the second movie that I've seen from the "Into the Dark" collection.

Earlier today, I watched "They Come Knocking". I thought it was pretty interesting with a take on an urban legend, but I could have done without so many flashbacks.
They helped to fill in some gaps, but I still feel like they used too many as it seemed repetitive.

Man, am I glad I grew up in a church that teaches about free agency, and if you messed up Jesus is there to pick you back up if you let him. It seems a lot of Christians forget that's why he came in the first place. I was taught to wait until marriage, but that I had the right to choose, I decided to wait for cuz I did not want to risk any STDs coming out of sleeping around no matter how advanced the median is in preventing and treating it, saves money as well. And I'm glad I waited as it made the moment special between me and my hubby when we plunged in for the first time. It's like that marshmallow experiment the kids that waited for the second marshmallow were more successful in life because they were patient. Stuff like what they did in that movie makes me wish I can move to mars.
