My dog just died a couple days ago. His name was Dream. He was the best dog I could have ever asked for and I'm so grateful for the 16 beautiful years we had together. Beautiful track and the theme of the dream as the place we must go to during times of complex problems is one of the great eternal truisms of ourselves as thinking beings. For one can acquire raw, often recalcitrant and complex, data while awake in the so-called "real world" only to then escape into the dream space where this complex data can be refined through abstractions into models of meaning, models of implementation even. Dreams are not merely the flowery escapism as portrayed by an increasing deconstructionist, materialist world - they are perhaps the most nuanced and advanced model-generating stages in the whole process of idea creation. History is rich with stories of how science, culture and of course history itself and our concept of our place time and space come from the dream space, the realm of the unconscious mind. What governs this emergent model-creating mechanism, if it can be even reduced to such a thing, is one of those "black box" kind of mysteries, for it is non-local and can be anything from a chimera-state of various brain functions on standby or a kind of self-sustaining state of being that exists both in a kind of fractal substructure and superstructure of what we vaguely call our mind.
