During D23 2024, the plot of "Toy Story 5" was unveiled, revealing a new twist where Woody faces off against the iPad. Writer and director Andrew Stanton confirmed the film will explore "toys going against electronics," with a preview image showing Bonnie under the covers with a tablet. Additional images showcased 50 rogue Buzz Lightyears and cowgirl Jessie. While few other details were shared, Pixar also introduced its upcoming TV projects, "Dream Productions" and "Win or Lose," and released a short video featuring Toy Story's little green aliens. "Toy Story 5" is set to hit theaters in June 2026. Tim Allen is confirmed to return as Buzz Lightyear, while Tom Hanks' involvement is still unconfirmed.

Honestly, having toys being replaced by smartphones is a really cool idea that I don't mind them tackling in a Toy Story 5. It's like the first movie again, but twice as difficult, as now it isn't "a toy replaced by another toy", but "toys aren't needed at all". This WAS one out of 2 ideas I had for what they might tell with this movie so it's P cool to see them doing that. Maybe Stanton will surprise us and give us a TS5 that doesn't feel unnecessary.

At first I was skeptical about Toy Story 5 but the story they’re gonna come up with is kind of a creative idea, Bonnie becoming an iPad kid while the toys are just pushed to the side. It’s nice how Pixar came up with the idea since every kid is becoming an iPad kid and is addicted to Skibidi toilet and stuff like that

Toy Story 4 was garbage because of the ending. Woody and Bo Pete should get reunited with their friends in Toy Story 5. The Toys should get reunited with Andy in Toy Story 5.
