The super Russian math genious, figured out and impossible math problem, won a huge price, didn't take the money nor the price, and lives very humble teaching in some Russian university. He didn't care for anything else. The really smart people look beyond material stuff, money, fame.

Funny how it takes the smartest man on earth to see the simplest truth. laugh all you want, but take a look around and see how many people aren't able to grasp this concept

He is smart enough to know that materialistic things and fame are meaningless. I wish 95% more of the world understood this.

Mammon is a biblical term for riches, often used to describe the debasing influence of material wealth.
For what does it profit a man to gain the whole world and forfeit your soul.

I totally understand his point, just because you are gifted, doesn’t follow that you must get rich or take monetary advantage. An ordinary life has a lot of good desirable qualities, that don’t exhaust the mind and gives one a lot of room for growth. It all depends on your desires.

I made the same choice as a young man, I lived my life for me, I didn't worship money, I looked at people with money, and for the most part they were not good people.

He has such a strong resemblance to my father. And like him, my father is extremely wise, blue collar, and very value oriented. Wow.

Serve truth. Live within your means. Serving money always leads to trouble.

i'm a young guy halfway through college and i enjoy what i learn. i also know my career will bring a lot of money when i graduate. i just don't want money to be an issue for my family. the world is corrupted and if you're middle class you're paycheck to paycheck. i cannot justify putting my family in a situation where if one thing goes wrong we are all f'd. i actually don't even care about have a lot of money but i do care about what it represents. freedom, security, longevity, ability to be yourself. this guy grew up in an era where hard work paid off. nowadays that is not the case so you have to work the game from a different angle which is unfortunatly using your brain instead of your body to make money. (unless you are part of the influencer/OF brainrot)

I live within my means, even slightly below it, am not materialistic, and raising a family of four. But I’m also watching my father suffer dementia and my mom getting wiped out financially because of it. So I still feel tremendous pressure to make as much as possible for as long as possible because in the US healthcare costs can devastate a family.

He is correct on this topic of discussion, at least. Our systems are corrupt and based on addiction.

I pursued truth. I have a PhD in Philosophy, two Master's degrees in related fields. And I'm almost homeless. Money is crucial to life. I found out the hard way.

To put it as basically as possible, pursuing truth bring peace of mind, but the pursuit of money bring stress to the mind. Peace gives us joy/happiness, where as stress is a killer of joy/happiness.

What did he accomplish though? He wrote a theory that is universally panned as incoherent.
