When I checked the latest ABS data the job ads in Australia have dropped 20% in 12 months. PLUS just look around.. people living in tents.. well paid people struggling to make payments. I would argue we are already in a recession.

The us housing market starts to cool off in certain spots, inventory starts to increase and after the buying frenzy during the pandemic, and relatively high mortgage rates, some ppl wonder where the housing market heading. Also in regards to real estate cycles, one of the indicators of the recession phase is decreasing rents and it does happen in many cities in the us, especially in the corona boom towns and states

So from what I can tell, Japan has been heavily subsidizing the US Treasury market. You hear about this "carry trade" but nobody I know is doing it.... so who is and how do get access? Because if I can borrow from Japan at 1% and then loan that money to the US Government for 5% what Japanese guy do I call to borrow a trillion dollars? That 4% delta is enough to hedge against the Yen appreciating on the dollar especially if you invest in very short term US bills. If over the last few years there was rate parity between in the USA and Japan and therefore no carry trade, where would bond yields have gone?
