10% of our food waste happens during Christmas 🤯

in a world where 30% of food is wasted, no one should go hungry for Christmas ♻️

last night volunteers from @stop_spild_lokalt all across the country picked up excess food from supermarkets all over Denmark and gave it to people who needed it - I was there to help out as much as I could

there were also gifts for the children and holiday decor made by the volunteers - every single person I spoke to had been working since the morning and was ready to work well I to the night to give others a good Christmas, and they couldn’t stop smiling

during the holidays, we waste more than any other time of the year, and it is incredibly easy to get caught up in the consumerism of Christmas - but it doesn’t have to be that way

it is up to ourselves to fix it and make this time of the year about something more than buying, wrapping gifts, and exchanging gifts we don’t need, or eating cheap meats that cost our planet more than we should be willing to pay, so why not start by giving back, being mindful with resources and helping others

in the end, the world “sustainability” is thrown around a lot in global discourse, at cop28, and in our government, and while some solutions should also come from there, most sustainability happens locally, like hundreds of small revolutions against perfectly good food that’s tossed in the bin

Amazing. Thank you for spreading this positive and very important message! I understabd that it doesn't get as many "likes" as those senseless christmas hauls. But you are smart, brave and compassionate and clearly not about "likes". Please never stop!

I volunteered for my town's community fridge for just over a year. It's insane how much food would go to waste if they didn't collect it and give it away. We have a table three days a week, and give away literal tons of perfectly good food.

I hate food waste it makes me so sad especially when you know there are thousands of hungry belly’s every night cause they can’t afford to live or live on the streets
