This makes me so proud of myself. Everyone around me told me to stop breastfeeding cuz hes 20 months old ( they been saying it since he's 12 months old) but I'm not stopping it untill hes 2 years old. It gives me a feeling that I'm protecting my baby as much as I can.

in many countries breastfeeding rates are at 10%. We need better education of what breastfeeding really is. When I had my first it was so confusing and distressing. I didn't latch him correctly got damaged nipples and mastitis, and many expert' family members were misguiding me into thinking I did not have milk and something was wrong with me (not having milk is such a RARE occurrence and incorrectly assumed all too regularly - unless you have a medical condition) telling me its odd because my newborn was at the breast very often, when I called the breastfeeding helpline and they educated me on what to look for in order to confirm if it was the case and to remind me that HUMANS ARE MAMALS AND MAMALS NEED TO FEED VERY REGULAR AFTER BIRTH, not to mention that humans are the mammals born the most dependent and immature. Now I am currently breastfeeding my almost 1yr old. This is my 8th child and I have breastfed them all, exclusive and on-demand no pacifier. what does that mean? it is pulling over on the side of the rd for the 3rd time in an hour to breastfed while your other little children are crying and restless. Its panicking the feed isn't going to finish before the boiling pot boils over. Its decline invites/going anywhere you can't bring your baby that needs a feed every hour. It's sometimes bleeding nipples, mastitis, engorgement, strong armpit odour, forgoing migraine pain medications that are not breastfeeding safe. Its carrying extra weight, its snacking during the night to stay up to breastfeed causing yourself cavities, its breastfeeding every 20 min for days on end because your one year old is so hungry but can't consume solids because of painful hand foot and mouth ulcers. Its being awake for 48 hours after birth because your baby is born alert and in the extra high weight range and needs to eat ALOT. It's being the only one who can feed them (even if you express, you still have to be the one to somehow fit that in with multiple other children) its going to the effort of expressing for the baby to only refuse it and want it straight from mum so you have to cancel plans... in this day and age breastfeeding is even harder than 100 plus yrs ago as many of us don't live in the village/hunter gatherer group setting, you are home alone with multiple other children to care for for most of the day some days. But in this day and age we have more food and water available for the mother to maintain milk (in most countries that is) Breastfeeding is a huge commitment but Knowing I have given an ultimate gift to my children PRICELESS

Amazing gift to give babies if we can. I’ve breastfed my 3 boys, it was difficult and painful in the beginning but so worth it. I’ve now been constantly bf for 6 and a half years, the youngest one turned 3 yesterday, and it’s time to complete this part of the journey. Hard to let it go now though! That closeness and bond will last a life time ❤

I’ve breastfed 4 children. Your metabolism does change to accommodate breastfeeding, but it does not always make you lose weight. Some people, like me, hold on to body fat like crazy and no amount of exercise or diet helps until you’re done lactating (which is OK!).

Please remember while breastfeeding is great: fed is best for children. Some women can’t breast feed for many reasons and that’s okay. As long as you’re feeding your baby and their healthy then you’re doing a great job and I’m proud of you for that

I would like to add, be patient and kind to yourself! Breastfeeding is a process and while we are told it comes naturally it can take time to figure out. Don’t give up and it is OK to supplement with formula if you need to. That’s what it’s there for. You are the best mother for your baby and you are doing exactly what you need to which is no easy feat ❤

Just as soon as it stops being seggshewalized by pervy weirdos... like we're just feeding our children. Please stop making it into something weird.
Breastfeeding is such a beautiful thing and SHOULD be the norm EVERYWHERE ALL THE TIME. It's not gross, seggshewal, or need to be done in private. It's just a baby, eating, and bonding with its mommy. ❤❤❤

And I have seen videos of a woman who proudly announced that she wouldn't breastfeed because she loved her hair and wanted to prevent hairfall that happens as a result of breastfeeding. So she decided not to do it for her second baby. People applauded her in the comment section for being "selfish" this time because this amounts to be taking better care of yourself. These people are influencing hell lot of a people out there who don't really like to use their own brain and love to follow such influencers on social media. Then there were a few who pointed out how draining breastfeeding is for body and can be avoided at choice. I don't know but this is why breasts are meant for so if you decide to give birth and deemed medically fit for it then isn't it obvious to feed your own child?
