According to a study published in the journal Applied Animal Behavior Science, the different colors that English Cocker Spaniels come in can actually reflect their behavior and personality. Another study from the University of Sydney discovered that, on average, chocolate Labrador Retrievers don't live as long as the golden and black ones do. Scientists believe it may be recessive genes to blame. So fur color really does make a difference in both health and personality! But what about your fur baby? I had two females from the same litter. One was a beautiful Tuxedo and her sister was a black/white/brown mixed markings. Totally different. My Tuxedo was elegant, alpha, easily trainable, and loving. Her sister was not the brightest bulb - liked to find tiny places to hide. She didn’t like to cuddle but would meet me when I pulled into the driveway. She walked like a little bulldog, while the Tuxedo glided gracefully. Loved them both, lost them to disease last year. Would get another Tuxedo in a minute. Fabulous, smart cats.
