As an American I am sorry that we are treating our neighbors in Canada like this. We are all in this war together.

I live in a 141 unit building with three elevators and was advised with a letter pushed under my door that a residence had tested positive for Covid-19. This was ten days ago and an ambulance was at our building a couple of days before. In the letter, we were told to be careful and the Heath department would notify us if we needed to be tested. late last week an ambulance was again at our building. Friday a letter was posted on bulletin board that another residence had tested positive and one of the elevators was blocked off. I still have not been notified and am not aware of any other residence that's been notified or tested. My wife and I both over 70, and guess will be teated when we are sick enough to call for an ambulance. Small pandemic to report if you don't test people not already seriously ill.

You can't punish Trump by taking it out on the average American. That's just pettiness and a knee jerk reaction which we all feel at first, but with time our compassion for other people, which we are proud of as Canadian's, will always keep our heads held high

As an American, I think every citizen of every country is reasonable to think production should be domestic. Many Americans feel that way about other countries, especially China.
But Canadians forget 1 thing. America protects you. When your neighbor is the strongest on earth, you don't need a high defense budget. That's why Australia spends so much more on defense per GDP than Canada even though CAN/AUS are similar. So my American taxpayer dollars are subsidizing your budget as well. Canadian leaders know this.I want my tax dollar to be spent in US locally and not to protect ungrateful Canadians who haven't a clue on foreign policy.

The big issue is NOT the USA keeping products made in their country that they desperately need to themselves. The big issue is why were so unprepared after so many previous scares in the last 20 years! We have NO PPE, NO financial plan, NO way to help people, too few beds, the list goes on and on. This is our Federal and Provincial governments faults. We need to hold them accountable after this! Now they are trying to spin this like they are the good guys.

There will be lots to be learned from this pandemic, primarily that Canada needs to be more self sufficient. We live in a great country but there's always room for adjustment and improvement. We can get this done!

From now on, personal protective equipment and critical medical equipment should be manufactured in Canada period.
Dorénavant, l'équipement de protection individuelle et l'équipement médical essentiel devraient être fabriqués au Canada.

Here is the perfect example of what happens thru globalization.
They close down all the smaller plants and move everything to one big plant in one country.
The old "economies of scale" bit in play.
No one ever thought what would happen if that one plant got taken out of the supply due to political or other implications.
Canada used to have plants based here to make a whole whack of goods. But they've been closed and consolidated to one large plant by the head office in (x) country so that their shareholders can make more money.
Unfortunately, many of those closed plants are either now in disrepair, repurposed for some other use or torn down and are now a parking lot or a commercial/residential deveopment.

Maybe now we can build refineries and not export pipelines.
