Thank you brother for recording this footage. It is awesome and a blessing to see such a joyful celebration among our current students and students from the past. It truly defines what homecoming is all about. This footage is stamped in history and will be played for decades. God bless!

This DEFINES HOMECOMING - HCBU STYLE! Seeing everyone celebrating together and reliving their pasts feels great!. It's just like reliving a photo album! How fun is that?!

"1982" I was already at age 23 going on 24 later that October. I was in the Army at the time. Serving in my 6th year of eventually serving 15 years on active duty. I was permanent duty stationed at Aberdeen Proving Ground, Maryland 1980-1983. But in 1982 I had temporary duty assignments at Fort Lee, in Petersburg and Fort Pickett, in Blackstone. Myself and some guys I worked and hung out with kept mentioning Virginia St. They kept talking about the girls at Virginia St. So we jumped in our cars and checked it out. We ran into so many girls there. The ratio had too be 5 to 1. Black women everywhere. All I'm gonna say is this man (me) from Bed-Stuy Brooklyn, New York City. I was like a child in a Candy Store. Easy pick'ins. I won't say no names. Just in case a few of the older ladies there at that Alumni Band jam, is there. And might remember. "Virginia St" (Virginia is for Lovers) is right. Especially for me in 1982.
The Clubs I remember there:
The Roof
24 South Union
Mr J's
NCO Club at Fort Lee

A hot commodity for decades. Now, the VSU Trojan Explosion is a tradition that stands out even amongst the oldest alumni. GO, BAND!

One thumb up doesn't do this video justice. The VSU Drumline and band members show great enthusiasm with current and past squads mingling, playing, and stepping it out. Too many schools emphasize only the football game, not the other activities that made the time spent at Uni worth being there.
