2021 Dodge Durango Hellcat Review: Crazy Fast SUV

We knew it was only a matter of time before the 2021 Dodge Durango Hellcat became a thing. Stellantis has already shoved that ubiquitous supercharged V8 into the engine bays of its sedans, so putting that same motor into Dodge’s largest vehicle was inevitable. Unfortunately, the Durango Hellcat will only last one model year (blame more stringent fuel emissions regulations). But in that one year, this vehicle brings a lot to the table.

With 710-horsepower and 645-pound-foot – a whopping three more horses than the Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk – the Durango Hellcat is the most powerful SUV on the planet. It will sprint to 60 in a mind-bending 3.5 seconds and go on to a top track speed of 180 miles per hour. And with all that power the Durango Hellcat brings some new technology to the table plus some fresh interior touches. All in all, this is a fantastic SUV for the family that wants to go fast.

Is this the most insane SUV to come out this year? Maybe, just maybe...

Fuel economy…..???? Those words should NEVER be associated with such an engine

Ah, I know that road (and tunnel) well!
Honestly I think THIS Hellcat makes the most sense of all the Hellcats...AWD and plenty of space. Like if you HAD to have a large family car, this is one of more fun choices one could make.

You didn't get into any of the settings for the review. I'm betting it has an eco mode that might tame that throttle just enough to tolerate it, or not. I really wouldn't call this a review but that's just my opinion.

Without a new generation to call its own, Dogde continues to update its portfolio as best it can. Going against the market, it bets on large combustion engines. Estelantis will certainly use the brand with an old-school proposal within its catalogue.

One would except it to get better gas mileage....asuming they have absolutely no understanding of physics. Its a 5500lb supercharged 710 hp v8 SUV. It gets exactly the gas mileage a reasonable person would expect it to.

Sends me crazy when reporters say I don't get it or that it has bad fuel economy after telling me it has 710hp honestly what isn't to understand?? The people that can afford one of these don't care how much fuel it uses why because there rich enough to not care. And why a big SUV you might be a petrol head but have a big family so this is your go to SUV no one buys a SUV for its race pedigree.
And lastly your complaining about to much throttle response from a god damn 710hp car not just any sort it's a top mount supercharged V8 what gives you all it's torque almost off idle if it was a turbo it wouldn't have that aggression but it's supercharged and has 8+ gears so 1st and 2nd are useless gears there so low ranged what will exacerbate the torque even more. If in normal mode you could get it tuned so it takes off in 3rd would make it a lot more subdued this is what we did with my supercharged XR8 falcon as I had over 1, 000nm of torque they tuned it to take off in 2nd gear in normal mode so I didn't smoke the rear tires worked a treat unless I went over half throttle and than it just smoked the wheels

They could slap a electric motor and a battery pack in it and keep selling the hellcat version honestly
