The Trek FX+ 2 is a commuter-friendly city e-bike with the soul of a non-electric bicycle. We take a close look at all aspects of the bike, including its performance in our testing process, in this Trek FX+2 video review.

The FX+2 feels like a traditional bike thanks to its tiny 250W rear hub motor and torque sensor. It looks like a regular bike too! Don’t be fooled, though – it can take you faster and farther than you might expect, and it’s a ton of fun to ride.

Weighing just 40 lbs, this lightweight bike is super easy to carry! That featherweight frame also makes the bike easy to maneuver, and pedal up to speed.

Speaking of pedaling, you get an intuitive and expected level of motor assistance from each of the bike’s three pedal-assist settings, making it incredibly easy to use. Check out our Trek FX+ 2 video review for more information! Don’t forget to like and subscribe!

I just bought this bike last weekend. Absolutely love it. It's so smooth and lightweight. All the power I'll ever need in an e-bike.

Thank you for your insights and the hard-work into this review, much obliged. I ordered one from some good folks near Vancouver, B.C.

Only with your review could I be so confident of the purchase sight unseen. Really looking forward to finding out how I'll do with it. *fingers crossed*

My wife purchased this one 2 years ago for commuting to work which isn't too far & for regular rides. We've had to get the rear light fixed (rewired) twice now & it's broken again because the wire runs up through the fender which creates allot of vibration breaking the wires so it's a bad design, my opinion. My HEY cruiser has directional also but the wires are on the frame so no problem. We have a battery operated one now on the back & not bringing it back again so I'll fix it sometime. Other than that it's been working great. 😊 She probably rides around 10 miles a day for work, five days a week & we ride on weekends when we can at least 50 miles.

Thanks for the objective review. I'm considering this one and the Aventon Soltera and watched both your reviews. Appreciate your concise, on point delivery. Very helpful for my decision. Noticed that you didn't mention pricing.

Thank you for a thorough review. This is definitely on my short list since my VanMoof broke down, much like the company itself…

Hello I am considering a purchase of the FX2 and this would be a first time e-bike purchase for me.. I am very Savvy with bike maintenance and I am a little thrown back by Trek does not make the battery compartment easier for the consumer to replace the battery is this necessary to take it into a dealership to have the battery replaced. Are they going to have to unweld the frame to pull that battery out or is there something underneath that is not being shown like perhaps a small hatch. I have not been able to find one in my local stores so I am hashing around the idea of just having it ship directly to my house. But if this battery is not replaceable outside of becoming a hybrid welder I am not interested in this whatsoever. Can you shed a little light on this? Thank you in advance

Why is it so hard to find out if these batteries can be replaced at home? I know their Electra brand bikes look pretty bargain-y. But what about the Dual-Sport & FX series>?

If you have basic mechanical skills the battery is easy enough to replace as Trek publishes the service manual for the bike. As far as the lack of a speedometer goes, I don’t see this as an issue at all. It’s easy enough and super cheap to add a speedo or if you already own any kind of Garmin, etc, to just slap a holder on this.

Question. What do you think of this bike for bicycle touring? Br that I mean 1-2week tours with Adventure Cycling Association that are primarily on paved roads.

I have the same bike and love it. I usually get 60km on the lowest assist. Can you link me which battery extender I can buy to increase my range please. There is so many on trek website and don’t know which exactly to get. Thank you.
